Meet Wei and Madam Teo, guardians of the disappearing traditions of Nanyang coffee roastery. Wei practically grew up on the rich aroma of Nanyang coffee. Under his mother, Madam Teo’s watchful eye, he learned the disappearing art of traditional coffee roasting. Now, together, they keep Pin Shih Coffee alive, supplying rich, flavorful coffee to Singapore’s hawker centers and cafes. In a world of automation, their dedication ensures a taste of heritage lingers.
Hand Roasting involves a lot more direct control over the roasting process. The roaster can constantly monitor the beans, adjusting heat, airflow, and even the agitation of the beans to achieve a specific roast profile. This allows for a more nuanced and “artisanal” approach, highlighting the unique characteristics of each bean. It’s what makes our Nanyang coffee unique.
