We will start our Crazy Rich Asian tour at Chjimes. This colonial-era compound (strangely spelt due to Singaporeans’ love of acronyms, but pronounced Chimes) was previously a convent and a school and in its most recent incarnation is populated with food and drink outlets. At its heart, the 19th-century gothic chapel renamed Chijmes Hall and now turned into a function space is the location for glamorous couple Colin Khoo and Araminta Lee’s society nuptials – The Wedding of the Century. While you will not be attending the wedding, we will start off the session with some tapas and wine, while immersing in the alfresco old-world charm of CHIJMES.
Next up – we bring you to the old grand dame of Singapore’s hawker centre – the iconic Lau Pa Sat. While the actual shoot was done at Newton Food Centre, the alfresco dining under the stars experience is even better at Lau Pa Sat.
Singapore’s hawker culture is inscribed into UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural in 2020. The place is the perfect blend of architecture, warm aromas of local food and the buzz of the Lion City. We will indulge your bellies with a feast of local delights to be shared amongst friends – Grilled Satay, Prawns, Chicken Rice, Chinese carrot cake, local drinks and desserts etc.
Last stop – We bring you Level33, a unique award-winning and world’s highest urban microbrewery. Indulge in a glass of freshly brewed craft beer or cocktail, while you admire the spectacular view over Singapore’s Marina Bay and the city skyline from the penthouse unit of the Marina Bay Financial Centre (MBFC).
