EVERTON PARK WALKABOUT

ITINERARY

Stroll with us through the estate and the surrounding Spottiswoode area which is brimming with character!

One of Singapore’s oldest residential estates, Everton Park is a cosy residential area home to several cafés and restaurants. It has a laidback and nostalgic charm with its quaint back alleys, Peranakan-style houses, first-generation HDB (public housing) flats and hippy cafes.

Stroll with us through the estate and the surrounding Spottiswoode area which is brimming with character. We will introduce you to a tailor of traditional Chinese costumes and her quaint little shop that is brimming with antiques, knick-knacks and prized cheongsam (traditional Chinese costume). En route, learn about the shophouses and their architectural details and pause for an IG moment with the various heritage street murals that can be found around every street corner.

While there are various cafes, spas, boutiques, pottery studios and art galleries calling the area home, we will bring you to sample a cuppa at one of the best coffee roasters – Nylon Coffee Roasters. Being the first cafe to establish itself in a public housing estate and also the first to house a roastery section within its cafe, this hole-in-the-wall cafe is a must-stop.

There’s also Ji Xiang Confectionery, a long-established traditional pastry shop famous for its Ang Ku Kueh – The red Chinese pastry is the perfect teatime snack: Within a sticky, chewy rice flour skin sits a sweet filling of either mung bean, ground peanut or red bean.
