Lau Pa Sat Night Street Food Tour Singapore & Marina Bay Night Walk

ITINERARY

Dive into Singapore’s best night tour: Exploring Singapore's hawker food and spectacular night skyline

Embark on a tantalising journey that blends Singapore’s vibrant hawker centre culture with the dazzling spectacle of Marina Bay’s cityscape. This unforgettable experience will take you on a gastronomic adventure, sampling at least 6 different local delicacies, and introducing you to a kaleidoscope of local flavours and iconic landmarks, all within a few exhilarating hours.

Hawker Center Hopping:

  • Amoy Street Food Centre: Begin your culinary voyage at Amoy Street Food Centre, a daytime bustling haven for hawker stalls offering a diverse array of local delights for the office crowd. Enjoy a tea-time snack and local beverage as we introduce the history and origins of the UNESCO hawker culture.
  • Lau Pa Sat: Next, head to the legendary Lau Pa Sat, a historic landmark and culinary epicentre. Gazetted as a national monument in 1973, this architectural gem has a distinctive octagonal shape built with Victorian cast-iron elements prefabricated in Europe and crafted by Walter MacFarlane & Company, an iron foundry in Glasgow, Scotland. This same foundry later made the cast-iron verandahs of Raffles Hotel in 1913.
    • Dive into fragrant plates of char kway teow, flat rice noodles stir-fried with savoury dark sauce and seafood, or indulge in the comforting warmth of Hainanese chicken rice, steamed chicken served with fragrant rice and a trio of dipping sauces: chilli sauce, ginger, and dark soy sauce.
    • Explore the vibrant stalls, each brimming with enticing aromas and colourful dishes. Savour the smoky goodness of satay, skewers of marinated meat grilled to perfection and served with a creamy peanut sauce, or tantalize your taste buds with chilli crab, a Singaporean classic where succulent crab is drenched in a sweet and spicy chilli sauce.
    • Don’t forget to finish your dinner with Chendol, a refreshing dessert of shaved ice, green jelly noodles, coconut milk, and palm sugar.

Marina Bay Night Walk:

As the sun dips below the horizon, immerse yourself in the captivating atmosphere of Marina Bay. Stroll along the waterfront promenade, marvelling at the city’s glittering skyline illuminated against the inky night sky. Capture a picture-perfect moment with the iconic Merlion, Singapore’s mythical half-lion, half-fish creature, and soak in the vibrant ambience of the waterfront. Remember to bring your appetite, an adventurous spirit, and a camera to capture the unforgettable memories you’ll create on this unique tour. Our foodie guide will introduce you to a lot more food than what is included, so feel free to purchase and indulge on them if your belly can take them in!

And here are some fun hawker facts to whet your appetite (pun not intended =P):

  • Chilli sauce: From the fiery kick in Hainanese chicken rice to the creamy peanut sauce accompanying satay, chilli sauce adds a vibrant touch to many Singaporean dishes.
  • Steamed chicken rice: This seemingly simple dish is a Singaporean classic that hails from Hainan (Southern China) immigrants, showcasing the delicate flavour of poached chicken paired with fragrant rice and savoury dipping sauces.
  • Outdoor dining: Savour your meals under the open sky, enjoying the balmy Singaporean air and the vibrant energy of the hawker centres.
  • “Chope” culture: The act of securing a table with tissue packets is the Singaporean solution to the age-old problem of simultaneously grabbing food at a food court and competing for a seat once your meal has been purchased. The system, called “chope,” is a Singlish word derived from the word “chop” and simply means to leave one’s mark. So as the saying goes, if you can’t beat them, join them—grab a pack of tissues (usually sold for 30 cents each) and place them at an empty table to reserve your own spot.
