Explore off-the-beaten-path, find hidden gems and meet the locals! HawkerWalk is a tour designed to bring out the stories, passion and grit of our local hawker heroes. Combining behind the scenes experiences and stories of our hawkers, tour participants will gain a deeper appreciation of the grit and sweat hawkers put in to deliver the everyday dishes we enjoy.

Through Old School Snacks tour, we bring you up, close and personal with the last of our hawkers making these tradition snacks, learn why a snack is named as ‘kill the riding horse’, or the origins of a ‘pig ear biscuit’. Sample the Asian version of a granola bar, together with other delicious local food!

The tour includes a snacks & food bundle worth up to $15.

Boon

In 2020 when Tribe was creating different new genres and tour formats, Mr. Versatile gamely undertook all the different content, formats, styles and skills to avail himself for the new tours. Post 2020, Boon is an expert livestream guide, has decent skills in phone photography, gamemaster and storytelling skills, and is a market and hawker centre expert especially in Chinatown. At the onset, Boon exudes calm but also a rather serious demeanour. But if you know Boon the way we do, he is full of jokes and one has to be sharp to pick up his witty banter.

A bilingual cat, YS is quick witted, charming, and thinks and moves fast. Don’t worry, he knows how to take it down a notch when he’s guiding. He has more than one funny bone in him but beneath the natural joker persona, he is a wonderful and committed dad and a great warm person.

And merely meeting him for 15 minutes, you will feel the warmth, sincerity and good vibes one gets from being around this man. Don’t think he’s just all warm and fuzzy, Anthony is a bona fide Peranakan, a massive foodie and a hell of a guide. He’s also a steady hand and presence in our livestream tours.

An absolute professional who is always looking to perfect his craft as a tourist guide, Andros is a wonderful addition to our team. He is genuine, sincere and kind to guests and for that reason we had nominated him for Customer Service Excellence for Tourist Guiding in 2021. Andros’ guests are also lucky as he always seeks to inject fun in his tours. For example, he will have his clues in ang pows (red packets) during Chinese New Year.
